Jenn & Chris

classic romantic terminal city club wedding

As much as nature-heavy weddings tend to be more my signature, I genuinely love the chance to do a real downtown city wedding here and there! Classic downtown vibes was definitely the playbill for Jenn & Chris' big day, with a little twist of lush romance!
We arrived at Terminal City Club and hopped right into it with a first look on the grand staircase. Jenn, who is usually a pretty low-key gal when it comes to everyday life, was truly show-stopping in classic a-line gown with romantic floral lace and sweetheart neckline. Backless but for the delicate beaded criss-crossing straps, it was the perfect mix of drama and class. Genuinely one of the prettiest dresses I've had the pleasure of photographing! Chris' classic black tux was the perfect pairing to Jenn's gown, the both of them delivering perfect downtown romantic vibes.
First look checked off, it was right into bridal party photos. If you're familiar with the area of Terminal City Club, you know that it can be crazy busy right down near the waterfront, especially in the summer, especially on a Saturday! We managed to find some space that wasn't teeming with weekenders and tourists fresh off the cruise ships docked at the terminal 2 blocks away, and blew right through those portraits! Wedding party banished back to the club, we continued on with bridal portraits for Jenn & Chris, not shying away from being in the heart of the city amongst the skyscrapers- just watch out for the bike lanes, those cyclists mean business!!
We retreated inside for a few more pics on that stunner of a staircase, and then got to-be's sequestered away from arriving guests. The ceremony was very sweet, featuring vows written by each, and a lovely gesture of their families interweaving signified by their two moms lighting a candle each, and using each taper together to light a larger bigger candle representing their joined families. Throughout the whole day, it was so sweet to see how well their two moms got on- it really seemed like they were besties! So cute!
Ceremony flowed right into cocktail hour with the champagne toast in the downstairs lounge, the space opening out onto a patio nestled right in heart of the financial district with the harbour peeking through the skyscrapers. As guests mingled, we stole family members away upstairs for family portraits before releasing them back to the good care of the TCC staff armed with cocktails and canapes.
Jenn & Chris' reception was perfectly punctuated by their lush and bright pink and red roses all over, bringing that romance to the city setting. Speeches (of course), dinner (delicious, wow!!), a couple cheeky games, lots of mingling, and a special slideshow brought us into a very sweet first dance. A bouquet toss as a fun traditional nod, and it was into the party portion. Paul Filek wowed us all with music that turned into a private concert, before it was back to the dancefloor to boogie the night away as my time came to a close.
Perfection!
