My first wedding of the season was helping out Kaidra of Capture Your Now Photography with this super sweet Gastown wedding. Carlynn and Cody are one-time residents of Vancouver who returned to have their wedding at The Abbey at Steamworks Brewery. It was my first time shooting at this venue, and I literally had no idea it existed! I have been to Steamworks plenty of times (it is huge inside!) and never realised there was an entire separate ceremony and reception venue connected to it!

I met Kaidra and the wedding party at nearby Crab Park for the first look and wedding party portraits. The weather was bright and happy for their big day (I always feel irrationally proud of Vancouver for turning out some good weather for the out-of-towners!) and they both looked so classically elegant. Carlynn's look was so striking in its simplicity - completely timeless!

After that it was on to Steamworks where they hosted a pre-ceremony cocktail hour to welcome their guests and socialise a bit (love this trend!). The ceremony was un-decorated but with that huge arched window, no further decoration is needed! What a view!

After the ceremony we escaped with the couple for a few portraits in Blood Alley (they dealt with the stares from the busy Gastown streets like champs!). The reception was full of heartfelt and funny speeches from Cody and Carlynn's family, and a delicious spread put on by the Steamworks catering team.
